Terms of Service
Last updated 28 September 2026. These terms cover the SkyrimScape launcher, the game client and the servers behind them.
What you need
You must own a legitimate copy of Skyrim Special Edition on Steam. SkyrimScape does not include any part of the game and will not run without it. Skyrim is rated for adults in most countries, and you are responsible for meeting the age rating where you live.
You need a SkyrimScape account: an email address, a display name and a password. The account is activated from the link we email you; until it is, it cannot sign in, and an account not activated within 48 hours is deleted. A fixed number of accounts is admitted in each round of 28 days during the alpha, first come first served, and the number left is shown on the front page. Using this site or SkyrimScape means you accept these terms; the site asks you once, and again if your browser's site data has been cleared.
Your account
- Your account is yours alone. Do not share it, sell it, or let anyone else play on it. If you lose access because you gave your password away, we cannot help you.
- One person, one account. Making extra accounts to get around a ban is itself a bannable reason.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- You can delete a character from the launcher at any time. Ask an administrator to delete your whole account.
How to behave
The realm is shared with other people. These are the rules, and they are enforced by human moderators.
- No harassment, threats, hate speech or sexual content involving minors.
- No cheating: no modifying the client, no tools that read or write the game's memory, no exploiting a bug instead of reporting it. Attempting it is grounds for a ban.
- No advertising, no spam, no selling anything for real money. That includes selling in-game gold, items or accounts.
- No impersonating staff.
- Do not attack the service. No denial of service, no attempts to reach parts of the servers that are not yours, no automated account creation.
Report a player in game with Report a player on the Help tab of the social window (press O). You can also mute any player, which blocks their text and voice for you.
Moderation
We can mute, kick, suspend or ban an account, with or without warning, when these terms are broken. We keep a record of reports, mutes and bans. If you think a decision was wrong, ask an administrator in the server chat.
Your characters and items
Characters, items, gold and progress exist on our servers and have no real-world value. They are not property and cannot be bought or sold for money. We may adjust, remove or reset them when fixing a bug, an exploit or an error, and we may reset a realm entirely. We will say so in advance where we can.
What you write
You keep whatever you write in chat, in mail and in character names. By sending it through our servers you allow us to store and display it to other players so the game works. Do not send anything you do not have the right to send.
Availability
This is a hobby project running on a small number of machines. There is no uptime guarantee, no support commitment and no compensation for downtime or lost progress. We may change, suspend or shut the service down at any time.
Skyrim itself is updated by Bethesda on their schedule. When it changes, SkyrimScape may not work until the client is updated.
No warranty, and the limit of our liability
SkyrimScape is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using it, including lost progress, lost data or damage to your computer. Nothing here removes rights you have under the law of your own country that cannot be removed by agreement, including your statutory consumer rights.
Other people's software
SkyrimScape is our own client, loader and server. It does not include or depend on any third-party mod or script extender. Skyrim, its engine and its content belong to Bethesda Softworks and ZeniMax Media, and this project is not endorsed by or affiliated with them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the new version.
